Chicago Engagements

These pictures are from the engagement session we did in Chicago. Aimee & Marc were a lot of fun. I made some creative changes to these images. These are only 10 of the 23 they chose. Some shown here also show what they would look like black & white or sepia toned. I hope to have the rest online soon.

Chicago....or Gotham?

My wife, Laura, and I recently went to Chicago to do engagement pictures for a great couple there: Aimee & Marc. I decided to create this blog so I can show them some of the nifty creative changes I'm making to their pictures over such a distance. Anyway, while we were there we had the privilege of seeing a movie being filmed. Now, anyone who knows me well can tell you that I grew up loving comic books, especially Batman. That's how I got into art and eventually the photography side of it. Well, Laura and I were headed to the train station you see in the back of this picture when we saw a crowd standing on the left side of the street (the side we were on,) watching a movie being filmed underneath the Chicago theatre.

The marquee said Moscow Ballet and on the sides Giselle. There was a poster underneath the marquee of the Moscow Ballet with a big sticker over it that said, "Cancelled." They were filming a couple getting out of a cab, walking up to the theatre, and being disappointed over the cancellation. Now, none of that is incredibly significant except for the taxi cab, which said on the side Gotham then some numbers like Y9789. I knew exactly what was being filmed, and hopefully, some of you do as well. Batman Begins 2 aka The Dark Knight. I knew they were filming in Chicago. And the city Batman lives in is Gotham City. I can't wait to see the movie and the scene we saw being filmed. In case, you're in Chicago sometime soon and come across a movie being filmed the code name for BB2 is "Rory's First Kiss." Rory is the director's son. I knew about this before I came upon the filming. A lot of people heard that it was Batman being filmed, but then asked the workers, who were telling us not to use any flash photography, what movie it was. When they heard the codename they walked away. A lot of people were also asking, "Where's Batman at? In the cab?" Yes, people, Batman takes a cab in full costume in broad daylight. Aaron Eckhart showed up right before we left. I'm not sure if they were going to film him doing anything or not.

Anyway, this picture is from the following night. I didn't have my camera with me when we watched the filming. As you can see they've changed the marquee and everything. It was just a fun thing to see on a great trip.

My New Blog

I decided it was time to create a blog. That way my clients can see some of the images I'm working on as I'm working. Hopefully, I can motivate myself to stay up to date with it.
